Robbers attack Bureau de Change, cart away N50m in Lagos

Armed robbers on Sunday attacked the operators of Lagos bureau de change and made away with N50M.

It was reported that the robbers shot dead three policemen and a commercial bus driver after they had successfully robbed the bureau de change at Oke Koto.

Alhaji Muktaru Muhammadu said the robbers went away with N25 million in local currency and 153,000 Pound Sterling, adding that they stormed his office at about 10.30am.

According to him, “I saw the robbers in two SUVs. They shot into the air several times. They grabbed me, pulled me inside, and demanded for money. They had sophisticated weapons on them. They pointed their guns at me. Two of them also with guns ransacked my shop. They saw two ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags where we keep the monies and carted them into their waiting SUVs”.

They moved to the next shop where they shot Muktaru Jubrila and Abdullahi Gaddo in the legs’’ he said.

Lagos police command confirmed the attack, saying the deceased policeman was going on his own when he was shot by the fleeing gunmen. The command also said the robbers had earlier operated at Gbagada area and that effort was on to apprehend them.
