A protest by 10,000 Muslims outside the
offices of Google in London on Sunday is just
the first in an orchestrated attempt to force
the company to remove an anti-Islamic film
from website YouTube in Britain.
The scene outside the Google offices in
Buckingham Palace Road, London.
Thousands had travelled from as far afield as
Glasgow to take part in the demonstration,
ahead of a planned million-strong march in
Hyde Park in coming weeks.
Anger over ‘The Innocence of Muslims’, an
American-produced film which insults the
Prophet Mohammad and demeans Muslims,
according to protesters, remains available to
watch on the website YouTube, a subsidiary
of Google.
Organiser Masoud Alam said: “Our next
protest will be at the offices of Google and
YouTube across the world. We are looking to
ban this film.
“This is not freedom of expression, there is a
limit for that. This insult of the Prophet will
not be allowed.
The group’s next action was a march Mr
Alam hoped would be “a million strong”
would take place in Hyde Park “in the next
few weeks”, he said.
“Until it is banned we will keep protesting,”
he added.
Today’s demonstration was the third
organised in a month, and took place on the
central London street where the website
search giant has its UK headquarters. A
demonstration outside the American
Embassy in London last month drew little
attention as protests in Libya, Tunisia and
Yemen dominated headlines, including the
storming of embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that
led to the death of the US Ambassador to
Libya, Christopher Stevens.
Barricades were erected in front of Google’s
headquarters and a crowd bearing placards
with the words “We love our prophet more
than our lives” and “Prophet Muhammad is
the founder of freedom of speech” had
amassed by lunchtime.
Speeches by more than a dozen imams in a
mixture of Arabic, Urdu, and English urged
Muslims to honour the name of the Prophet
and not to back down in the face of Google’s
continuing reluctance to act, and were met
with passionate cries of “God is Great” and
“Mohammad is the Prophet of God” in
Arabic.
One of the speakers, Sheikh Faiz Al-Aqtab
Siddiqui, told The Daily Telegraph: “Terrorism
is not just people who kill human bodies, but
who kill human feelings as well. The makers of
this film have terrorised 1.6 billion people.
“Organisations like Google are key players and
have to take responsibility for civility. You can’t
just say it doesn’t matter that it’s freedom of
speech. It’s anarchy.”
Sheikh Siddiqui, a barrister from Nuneaton, said
he wanted to form a coalition with the Church of
England, Catholics, Jewish groups, Trade Unions
and even Conservatives to encourage their ranks
to join his “campaign for civility”.
“We want everyone in society to recognise these
people are wrecking our fragile global society. We
want the Church, the Synod, Jewish groups and
establishment figures involved,” he said.
As many as 800 imams in mosques across Britain
helped to organise today’s protest, which lasted
four hours and blocked roads almost up to the
Queen’s doorstep on Buckingham Palace Road.
Muslims from Blackburn, Birmingham, Glasgow,
Luton, Manchester and Peterborough were in
attendance. When asked where where the
women attending the protest were, one protester
replied: “Right at the back”.
Self-employed businessman Ahmed Nasar said he
was worried the video could lead to violence in
Britain in the same way as it had abroad. “If you
push people too far,” he said, “You will turn the
peaceful elements into violence.”
A YouTube spokesperson said: “We work hard to
create a community everyone can enjoy and
which also enables people to express different
opinions.
“This can be a challenge because what’s OK in
one country can be offensive elsewhere. This
video – which is widely available on the Web – is
clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on
YouTube.”

Police Declares Coxson Lelebori Lucky Wanted For Aluu killings
Coxson Lelebori Lucky, aka Bright, has been
declared wanted by the Nigerian Police for
the brutal murder of Ugunna Obuzor, 18,
200 Level Geology; Lloyd Toku, 19, 200 Level
Civil Engineering; Tekena Elkanah, 20, a
Diploma Technical student and Chiadaka
Odinga, 20, 200 Level Theatre Arts.
Coxson was owing one of the Aluu 4 money
and instead of paying up when they came to
collect, he raised a false alarm calling them
thieves. That alarm led to their horrific
murder.
Meanwhile 21 people have so far been
arrested and the IG of police has ordered an
inquest into the alleged involvement of police
men and have promised to bring to book any
officer found involved in the killing.
Even the most sadistic fiction writer would
not have thought of an ending like this. Still
can't believe this happened.
Nigerian Ambassador to Ukraine Warns Nigerians Against Studying in Ukranian Universities
Studying
in
Ukraine,
has
in
recent
times,
been
a
topic
of
debate
considering
the
alleged
racial
discrimination being experienced by Nigerian
students and the problem of communicating in
English Language. As English is not the official
language spoken in Ukraine, Nigerian students
often have difficulties in communicating when
they travel there for their studies.
To buttress this, the Nigerian Ambassador to
Ukraine, Frank Ngozi Isoh, has advised Nigerian
parents to be wary of sending their children to
English Language training institutions as
Ukrainians are not proficient in the language.
In September, the National Universities
Commission (NUC) had said some states sponsor
students to sub-standard universities abroad and
Ukraine was one of the countries mentioned.
The Executive Secretary of NUC Professor Julius
Okojie also made reference to a university in
Ukraine where there are over 800 medical
students and some of the students do not have
the qualification in basic sciences.
In a recent report by Daily Trust, the Ambassador
made some startling revelations that raises some
doubts about the idea of studying in Ukraine.
The Ambassador said that Nigerians won’t get the
best when it comes to studying in Ukraine with
the English Language. “One thing I will like to say
about education in this place, and this is
something we intend to package in a report to
government to see how this can be propagated
back home – I do not think that Nigerians get the
best when it comes to studying in this place in
the English language.”
While noting that the lure for most parents is the
low cost of tuition which is about $3,000 for a
course that could cost up to $20,000 in the
United States or Canada, the Ambassador further
said that the people who teach them in English
language are natives of Ukraine who are also not
very proficient in the language.
He advised students who want to study in
Ukraine to first learn the local language in order
to get the best out of the education system.
While speaking on Universities in Ukraine offering
medical courses, he said he doesn’t think
Nigerian medical students trained in English get
the best. “We don’t think that Nigerian medical
doctors trained in English speaking universities
here get the best. But those who endeavour to
learn the language and then attend lectures with
the natives certainly get better trained.”
It was only weeks ago that news of a Nigerian
student studying in Ukraine who faced life
imprisonment for allegedly defending himself
against six teenagers surfaced in the media. What was noteworthy about his
case is that he was remanded in detention for
several days by the Ukrainian police who refused
to take the case to court citing unavailability of
the police to get an interpreter for him.
If you were planning on studying in Ukraine, it
might be wise to listen to the advice of the
Ambassador.

The Growth of Strip Clubs in Lagos.
A strip or nude club is an adult
entertainment venue or a night club
where stripteases or other erotic or
exotic dances are regularly performed.
A strip club is run like a night club or
bar, but it can also adopt a theatre or
cabaret form.
A strip or nude club is an adult
entertainment venue or a night club where
stripteases or other erotic or exotic dances
are regularly performed. A strip club is run
like a night club or bar, but it can also adopt
a theatre or cabaret form.
This kind of club, no doubt is gradually
making its way into many towns and cities in
Nigeria and with increasing patronage by
different sets of people.
Efforts by various governments, especially
the Lagos State government to rid towns
and cities of these strip clubs have met a
brick wall as the operators of such
businesses are back with little or no
moderation to the usual practice.
The government, while attempting to bring a
little sanity to the city’s night life once raided
the strip clubs in the Ikeja axis of Lagos
State and arrested the strippers. But the
operators reacted by charging the
government to court.
This incident generated a lot of issues and
divided the public who held different
opinions on the business.
Investigations carried out recently revealed
that the operators of strip clubs are back in
business and are carrying out activities there
in a manner which obviously gives them an
edge over ordinary night clubs in terms of
patronage.
Scattered all over Lagos mainland are strip/
nude clubs like Cazz bar, Club Unique, Wall
Street bar, Cave Exclusive and Ocean Blue.
A visit to the Cazz bar on Opebi road, Ikeja
on a Friday night was an experience always
fresh in the mind of these reporters.
After paying an entrance fee of N3,000.00
one is entitled to enjoy the ambience where
most of the strippers are beautiful white girls
‘imported’ into the country to entertain and
meet the audience’s different needs.
The girls who have their bodies scantily covered
with g-string pants and bras took a pole-dancing
position and when charged, they discarded of the
scanty clothings on them and danced naked
performing also the lap-dance for any patron who
was willing to give them a tip.
Further investigations revealed that there is a VIP
section where you pay an entrance fee of
N10,000.00 which entitles you to have anything
on demand free.
The Cazz bar regulation states that a patron who
is willing to go home with one of its strippers will
wait till 5:000 a.m (which is the closing time) and
pay the management while leaving his phone
number and address for security reasons.
At the Cazz Bar it is stated that each of the
strippers collects N75,000.00 per week excluding
accommodation and feeding.
The practice at the Cave Exclusive in GRA, Ikeja is
a little different compared to that of Cazz Bar.
At the Cave Exclusive, the entrance fee is
N5,000.00. What makes the operations of Cave
Exclusive different from others is that not only
that the strippers are scantily clad, the bar
attendants who are mostly ladies move around
and attend to patrons in their underwears.
altThe environment speaks s..ex and you won’t
fail to catch a glimpse of couples engaged in one
sexual act or the other and with no damn given
to prying eyes.
One of the attendants who spoke to the reporters
claimed she wasn’t initially aware that the rule is
that attendants also will work in their underwears.
she said she discovered this on her first day at
work and that she was planning to quit anytime
from now as she wasn’t comfortable with the
practice.
On further questioning, she claimed her take-
home pay in a month is N25,000.00 and she feels
she shouldn’t be subjected to such a treatment
for that amount as customers are free to touch
and make passes at her, while the management
expects her to smile back at them.
The Cave Exclusive which has been running for
over three years records a huge patronage on
Fridays as fun-seekers throng the hangout to
enjoy what they offer.
The operation in other strip bars is not different
and it attracts patrons who are willing to part
with any amount of money as long as they are
satisfied.
Strip and nude bar operation is said to have
started in Lagos in the 90’s. Then, some
hangouts in Apapa used to bring in ladies who
were used in meeting the sexual needs of
European sailors who often visited the hangout
while on trips to Lagos.
The operation gradually gained ground and has
now become fully rooted with quite a large
number of nightclubs in existence.
A trip round the city of Lagos revealed that
virtually every nook and cranny of this city has
this strip and nude club due to the commercial
gains derived from them.
Teenagers and young ladies see the club as an
avenue to make money not considering the
consequences of their action.
It was also gathered that top businessmen and
politicians catch fun, but they choose to do that
in hangouts that operate strictly by membership.
A strip bar owner in Lagos is said to rake in
between N5m and N10m every month depending
on the location and patronage.
A usual strip club is open everyday for business,
but has Wednesdays and Fridays as its special
days.
Many had thought that the Lagos state
government would win the battle to curb, if not
stop this business, while some opine that it’s a
business that has come to stay whether the
government likes it or not.

Why They Broke Up (D'Banj And Don Jazzy); Plus Dr SID's Ambition
Greed, personal ambition, quest to be popular
ahead of others are some of the factors that led
to the "untimely" collapse of the Mo'Hits Records
group, an audio conversation has revealed.
Just when we were thinking the D’banj versus
Don Jazzy saga was ending, yet another
controversy has come up; this time former
Mo’Hits-now-MAVIN act, Dr SID, plays the leading
role in the ‘never-ending’ controversy.
Further findings have revealed that Mo'Hits
collapsed because the small boys in the house,
Dr Sid in particular, wanted to grow faster than
his shadow and might have indirectly pushed
Don Jazzy into taking some wrong decisions.
A secret recording which has leaked is now
giving a little more insight as to why the former
‘super group’ broke up with bosses – D’banj and
Don Jazzy parting ways.
Dr SID in the recording, was heard talking in a
rather upset tone about how D’banj’s personality
was over-shining his and the rest of the crew
members.
"Why don’t they know my name? Because your
brand and star is too much. It is overshadowing",
Dr SID angrily said in the recording.
Young singer, Davido, who was part of the
discussion, however had another opinion; he
argued back and forth with Dr SID, explaining
that it was D’banj that actually brought Dr SID
and others to the limelight.
"Guuuy, it’s not that, D’banj can help anybody,
….If not for D’banj nobody would have looked at
Wande, guy I dey lie?" Davido stressed.
However,it is a well known fact that Dr
SID and D’banj have been having inside brawls
even though he (D’banj) was the one that
brought Dr SID into Mo’Hits.
Several sources insist Dr SID was one of the
persons who engineered the Mo’Hits split and he
wanted to always be as big as D’banj. Wande
was content as the fan favourite, D’Prince is okay
as long as his elder brother makes the money
Gunmen kill Worshipers at Nigeria Mosque
Gunmen have opened fire on Muslim worshipers
as they were leaving a mosque in northern
Nigeria, killing at least 20 people, a local official
said.
The attack on Sunday happened in a remote
village called Dogo Dawa, in Kaduna state, said
Abdullahi Muhammad, the traditional ruler and
councillor of Birnin Gwari, a local government area
next to the village.
The state police commissioner Olufemi Adenaike
confirmed the incident, but did not give a death
toll. There was no immediate claim of
responsibility for the attack.
Like much of northern Nigeria, Kaduna is plagued
by an insurgency led by radical Islamist sect Boko
Haram. They usually attack security forces,
government officials or Christians, but have hit
Muslim clerics and mosques in the past, especially
ones that do not follow their brand of Islam.
Kaduna also lies close to Nigeria's volatile "Middle
Belt", where Nigeria's mostly Muslim north and
largely Christian south
meet, and where tensions over land and ethnicity
often erupt into violence.
But Abdulladhi said the attack was most likely
carried out by a local criminal gang.
"We are suspecting a reprisal attack by gangs of
armed robbers who lost some of their members
after a recent exchange
of fire with the villagers and the vigilantes," he
said.
"The village had been terrorised by an armed
group operating from camps in the forest. These
armed men mostly attack villages and motorists
along the busy Kaduna to Lagos highway."
The Islamist insurgency in northern Nigeria and
weapons flooding in from its neighbours on the
threshold of the Sahara
have aggravated levels of violence in the region.
Armed robberies and local disputes degenerating
into deadly shootouts are increasingly common
across the impoverished north.
Soldier Killed Student For Trying To Be A Gentleman
Emmanuel Papa Ebonyi dreamt of a great
future. A future where he would pass his
examinations in flying colours, have a great
job and support his siblings who had always
been there for him. Unfortunately, all these
dreams were terminated when a soldier
snuffed life out of him just because he tried
to be a Good Samaritan.
His sister Felicia Samuel Ebonyi tells the story in
tears. "The unfortunate incident happened in the
early hours of 9th August. On that day, my
brother, a Higher National Diploma I (HND I)
student of Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria,
Kaduna State met his untimely death in the
hands of one Captain Olufela Doyin Erizia."
"My brother was in the company of his friends
and they visited Mate Bar Night Club, PZ
Sabongari area of Zaria on the night of the
previous day to celebrate the birthday of a friend.
That was where he met Captain Olufela D. Erizia
and his friends."
Everything went well for a while. But suddenly,
there was a quarrel between Erizia and his
girlfriend. Ebonyi intervened warning Erizia
against fighting with his girlfriend. That
unfortunately turned out to be a grievous offence
in Erizia's dictionary. Infuriated, he took the laws
into his hands beating Ebonyi black and blue.
"He beat up my brother until he was half dead.
Along the line his friends rescued him from the
soldier and were trying to leave the premises, but
he (Erizia) still chased them and was struggling
with the driver of the vehicle. If Ebonyi had
known the calamity that would befall him, he
would not stop Erizia from fighting his girlfriend,
but his sympathy for the womenfolk landed him
in an unexpected grave."
Sadly, Felicia continues her story: "When the
incident happened, one of my brother's friends
called me on phone and asked me to come over.
They took us to the barracks and I met another
eye witness. It was not the soldier's girlfriend, it
was another girl. The girlfriend actually ran away
and I have been trying to get her to come and tell
her side of the story."
"Our parents are both late. I have four other
siblings and they are all very sad about the
development. He is the second to the last born in
the family. We used to have an elder sister who
died in 2007. She was ill and initially the ailment
was diagnosed as typhoid. It was later discovered
that it was hepatitis and her death was quite
painful."
Erizia was apprehended, taken for questioning
and interrogations after which he was taken to
the Area Command Police Station, Zaria.
"However, nothing has been heard ever since,"
Felicia says. "We have been kept in the dark on
this issue because not only did they refuse to
hand over the man to the police authorities but
also did not have courtesy to say a word. Sources
at the barracks were even saying that he had
been posted to another duty beat. It is on this
basis that we are calling on the Military HQ, well-
meaning Nigerians, human rights activists to see
to this matter and make sure that Erizia is
brought to book."
According to Sadau Garba of the Kaduna Human
Rights Association: "The offence of the late Ebonyi
was that he pleaded with Capt Erizia not to
manhandle a lady he jerked up and molested.
After mercilessly beating Ebonyi, a friend, one
Femi David, rushed him to Salama Hospital,
Sabongari, Zaria and they directed that he should
be taken to Shika Teaching Hospital due to the
critical condition. It was on the way to Shika that
Emmanuel gave up the ghost."
Sadau Garba added that "the family members of
the late Ebonyi have made several visits to the
Kaduna State Police Command headquarters, but
the authorities of the Army Barracks, Zaria, are
not willing to release the said Captain Erizia to the
police to investigate this inhuman, barbaric and
dastardly act."
DSP Aminu Lawal, the Police Public Relations
Officer in Kaduna confirmed the case saying
investigation was in progress. He also said, "The
authorities of the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria
could not ascertain if Ebonyi was a student of the
institution."

Nigerian Mr. Incredible (M.I) Saves Accident Victims
During the early hours of Saturday, October
13, 2012, Chocolate City rapper, M.I came
across a gruesome accident along Ikorodu
road, Lagos, involving four people, and
called for help via social media.
The rapper tweeted, 'I'm presently at the scene of
a serious accident…We have been here for almost
an hour.. And no rescue service!!! Any one that
can help. Opposite Obanikoro estate on Ikorodu
road. One passenger looks like they are still alive
and can make it.. But we need towing trucks and
jaws of life to save him… Pls help. At least 3 girls
dead, the driver still alive'.
The rapper, who was still there when the
emergency services arrived, saw them pull out
one of the passengers "One girl has been
removed from the car and is dead… Pretty young
girl.. My God…"
By the time we got to the site of the incident, the
rapper and his team had left, and the victims had
been taken away but a few people were gathered
near the scene, watching officials of the Lagos
State Transport Monitoring Agency (LASTMA)
clear the debris and tow the damaged car, a
white Toyota Camry with plate number,
TF787KJA, away from the road.
Although no one could say for sure what the
cause of the accident of the accident was, a few
of the onlookers who spoke to us on the grounds
of anonymity, assumed it was a case of either
over speeding, drink-driving or both, as they
suspect the victims could have been coming from
a club.
One onlooker, a man in his late forties said 'I'm
sad and speechless, look at the damage. The way
these youths ride cars these days, one just has to
be prayerful. They speed so much…I pity these
ones o, it's such a loss'. As the conversations and
speculation continued on the sidelines, the
LASTMA officials busied themselves with removing
the street light which fell on the car and hindered
the flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, one of the officials confirmed to us
that the accident was indeed ghastly, with only
two survivors out of the four passengers. He
added that they were all taken to the Lagos State
Accident and Emergency Centre. A doctor in the
hospital, speaking anonymously, claimed that
only one victim was admitted and has been
responding to treatment.
M.I and his team were returning from Club
Octopus, the venue of the Hennessy Artistry
event, where he performed alongside Naeto C.
Reports from his team reveal that although the
artiste found the sight shocking, he is presently
at home, and in good condition.
However, he had a few words for drivers, which
he shared on twitter: 'Pls, people drive safely
home, buckle up for safety and do not drink and
drive. Also don't let your drunk friends drive.'

Lagos Pastor In Prison For Visa Fraud
Pastor Nwusulor Emmanuel of House of
Liberation Assembly located at Canal
Estate, Isolo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, is
now cooling his heels at Kirikiri prison after
he was arraigned before Isolo Magistrate's
Court, Lagos for his alleged involvement in

The 30-year old pastor was alleged to have
defrauded Joseph Ojini of the sum of N322,000
under the false pretence of procuring visa en
route to Dubai to pursue his football career broad.
The Ebonyi State-born pastor allegedly promised
Ojini to secure a visa to enable him pursue his
football career abroad through his missionary

He asked the victim to pay the money in question

experience and demanded all his money, the
pastor started dodging him and did not refund
the money. When Ojini went to Isolo Police Station

Woman Commits Suicide After Giving Birth to Twins
Ede town, headquarters of Ede North Local
Government Area of Osun State, was on
Wednesday, thrown into mourning when a 27-
year-old woman, Mrs Shekinat Abdurazaq, took
her own life.
The deceased, a native of the area, gave birth to
a set of twins 11 days before.
According to an eyewitness, the deceased had
taken one of her children to school and, on her
way back, jumped into River Osun.
It was gathered that she offered prayers on the
bridge before jumping into the river.
Efforts by beggars, who beg for alms on the
bridge to rescue her, proved abortive.
It was further learnt that when her husband, who
was informed of the incident, got to the bank of
the river, he also attempted to jump into the river
but was prevented by the people around who
later alerted the police.
He was subsequently arrested and detained at
the Police “A” division in Ede.
No reason was advanced for the deceased’s
action as she had no quarrel with her husband or
any member her family.

Goodnight Pain. "thieves, thieves" he
screamed, it was almost funny. Not until
more voices joined the chorus as they
screamed and shouted on us. We could
have ran at least to save our lives, but
our intentions were genuine and little
did we know how the day would end.
From a handful of young men shouting
and throwing questions at us, it
escalated to a crowd of angry mob.
There was no way we could escape this
one, so we calmed down. They pushed
us around and then stripped us all.
These men pulled us pants down, we
were more than embarrassed, the whole
community watched, I recognized few
faces from the crowd. Obviously they
were so afraid to say "stop" then the
beating started, I wished it to be just a
nightmare. But it was real, these men
were determined. They dropped heavy
rocks on our heads, they pounded our
faces with large planks, blood covered
our eyes, they matched and kicked us
right on our bleeding nostrils, we
couldn't breathe.
"Bring tire" one of the men repeated, until
they brought the tires. "Oh God!" We
watched the crowd watch us, we raised
hands of plea, we couldn't speak, Some hid,
some shot videos and took pictures. there
was no one to stop this. This was the point
we knew it was over. We felt pain, helpless
and hopeless. I thought of my siblings, I
wondered how my mum would take this. She
would fall apart. I begged God to hold her for
me, comfort and make her strong for me, I
prayed same for my friends. Then we started
crying, we cried together. the tears gave us
headaches. We looked up high, the sky was
still. Rings of tires landed on our necks, they
kept hitting us, but we were numb already.
They set us ablaze. We rolled around, tried to
reach for each other, I wondered who would
give up first, the fire burned our bodies. it
hurt, it hurt and then it hurt. But suddenly
the pain stopped, Then I couldn't hear any
other thing, but silence. I thanked God. the
pain was over and Gods glory was revealed.
Goodnight pain. RIP ALUU#4:

Two Nigerian Pilgrims Arrested In Saudi Arabia For Drugs Possession
Two Nigerian pilgrims have been arrested in
Saudi Arabia for allegedly being in possession
of banned drugs.
The pilgrims were among the thousands
currently undergoing the hajj operation in
Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia and
comprise a male and female.
The two pilgrims could face death penalty for
carrying banned drugs. In Saudi Arabia, the
punishment for carrying banned drugs is
death when convicted by the laws of the
land.
P.M.NEWS gathered from a source currently
undergoing the hajj operation in Saudi
Arabia that the two pilgrims were from Lagos
State, but the Lagos State Government said
the pilgrims were from Kwara and Ekiti
states. The banned drugs were said to be
hidden in garri. This has made the Saudi
authorities to ban carrying of foodstuff to the
holy land by Nigerian pilgrims.
The Nigerian female was said to have been
nabbed by vigilant Saudi security operatives
at the King Abdullaziz International Airport
on Thursday for being in possession of
banned drugs. The other culprit was
reported to have been arrested on Sunday
after being found with substance suspected
to be cocaine.
The names of the pilgrims could not be
ascertained by our source as at press time. It
was gathered that the pilgrims, if found
guilty according to Saudi law, would be
executed.
Chairman, Lagos Hajj Ad-hoc Committee,
Alhaji Abdullateef Abdulhakeem, confirmed
that two pilgrims were arrested by the Saudi
Authorities but denied that the arrested
pilgrims were from Lagos, saying they were
from Kwara and Ekiti States.
As a result of the development, the Lagos
State Government has barred the remaining
pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia from carrying
foodstuffs.
Over 3, 000 Lagos pilgrims have so far been
airlifted to Saudi Arabia out of the 3,885
pilgrims from the state, while airlifting of the
pilgrims may be concluded this week.
The Lagos State Government has vowed to
deal with any pilgrim who misbehaved in
Saudi Arabia during next month’s hajj. To
ensure hitch-free hajj, the Lagos State
Government said it had set up a special
taskforce made up of officials of the Rapid
Response Squad, RRS, Chief Security Officer,
CSO of the state and Governor’s Monitoring
Team officials, among others to monitor
Lagos pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and deal with
erring ones.
Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Alhaji
Oyinlomo Danmole said government would not
tolerate any form of indiscipline from any Lagos
pilgrim.
“Any pilgrim who misbehaves will be dealt with.
We also have a tribunal in place to try erring
pilgrims in Saudi Arabia,” he said, adding that
during the last hajj, a pilgrim who misbehaved
was prosecuted after the hajj in Lagos.”
Chairman, Hajj Ad-hoc Committee, Abdulhakeem
said government had adequately prepared to
ensure hitch-free hajj as it had organised seminar
to enlighten the intending pilgrims on the basic
rules of hajj. “We have engaged the services of a
separate airline to convey our pilgrims to Saudi
Arabia. We will not be using the same airline with
other pilgrims in the Southwest. We have also
decided not to keep our pilgrims longer in Saudi
Arabia after the hajj.
